What Are These Special Provisions?

Students who represent India or compete in Olympiads or other nationally or internationally recognized sporting events are eligible to take their board exams on rescheduled dates thanks to special provisions provided by CBSE.  This implies that a student may take the main exam at a later time set by CBSE if it conflicts with a sporting event or Olympiad participation.  These rules were first implemented in 2018 for athletes, and they were later expanded to include international Olympiad competitors in 2020.

Who Is Eligible For These Provisions?

The provisions apply to students of Class 10 and Class 12 who have official participation certificates for:

• National or international sports events recognized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

How Does The Application Process Work?

Students who participate in approved events must: 

• formally request from their schools that their exams be rescheduled.
•  Include certificates of participation from accredited organizations such as HBCSE, BCCI, or SAI.
•  By December 15 of the academic year, schools send these applications and suggestions to the relevant CBSE Regional Office.
•  Approvals are communicated by CBSE Regional Offices by December 30.
•  Exams for approved students are rescheduled, typically within 15 days of the conclusion of the main exam cycle.
